One of O`ahu’s largest universities, Hawai`i Pacific University, is divided with two campuses on opposite sides of the island. HPU is actively expanding the Honolulu campus and facilitated a masterplan design competition for the development of these grounds. The design took into consideration the historic neighborhood linking the current classroom buildings and dormitories while planning for future acquisitions and growth, campus identity within the existing urban environment, and enhancement of the relationship between the local businesses and education community. The masterplan provides a 20-year development strategy that reflects and supports the overall strategic goals for the university.

I worked on this competition while with the Hawaii office of RIM Architects.
