At four levels, the 5th Street parking structure has a capacity for nearly 500 vehicles and is centrally located in downtown Napa, California. To better integrate with the surrounding buildings, thin bricks were installed around cast-in-place concrete columns and shearwalls and were also incorporated into the precast wall panels.
A solar array acts as a sun shade for many rooftop parking stalls while providing nearly all the required power for the lighting and elevator systems. The final product received many compliments from the community and stands in stark contrast to the typical parking structures found throughout California at that time.
I worked on this project while with the California office of RIM Architects.
